The 2001 Census of Population and Households covering Guernsey and Alderney

The last Census was held on 29th April 2001 and revealed that the population of Guernsey, Herm and Jethou was 59,807, and that of Alderney was 2,294.The Census was organised by the former Economics and Statistics Unit of the Advisory and Finance Committee for the Island's of Guernsey, Herm, Jethou and Alderney.

In April 2005, the States of Guernsey resolved that the next Guernsey Census should be held in 2011 (i.e. after 10 years, rather than 5).  During the intercensal period, population estimates have been provided by the States of Guernsey Social Security Department.  A summary of these figures is provided in the Facts & Figures booklet.
