Guernsey Arts Commission

The Guernsey Arts Commission's focus is to support, develop and promote the arts in the island.

The Commission exists to serve the arts community. It will be a resource for funding, strategic structure to activities or aspirations, to encourage initiatives where there are none, to strengthen areas which are weak and to encourage cross-disciplinary co-operation and partnership within the arts community.

The mandate for the Commission is:
Provide an identifiable voice for the arts in Guernsey, raising public awareness and promoting the value, relevance and social importance of the arts.

The key objectives are:
Support and assist artistic activities and improve the provision and accessiblity of the arts for the community.

Encourage initiatives and involvement by widening arts opportunities and provisions  for all.

Promote our cultural identity through the arts and embrace the arts of other cultures. 

Develop private sector funding and to raise the awareness therein of the importance of the arts support in Guernsey.

Invest to financially support arts events and other cultural activities for the benefit and enjoyment of residents and visitors to the island.

Inform and promote the value and importance of Public Art for the community.

Position arts, culture and creativity at the heart of learning.

Research to survey and assess the social and economic impact of the arts locally.
