Culture & Leisure

Welcome to the Culture and Leisure Department’s section of the States of Guernsey website. We hope that through our website we can offer you an idea of the services and facilities that the Department provides to locals and visitors alike.

Welcome to Culture and Leisure

Please use the menu on the left to navigate your way through the site and find out more about the Department's services and facilities. On the right you will also find links to documents that you can download or view which will hopefully add to your understanding of what we do. Also on the right are a number of external links which will take you directly to related websites.

The mandate of Culture and Leisure is incredibly wide-ranging, and covers everything from playing and watching sports, to enjoying historical exhibitions and lectures, learning about Guernsey’s language Dgernésiais, attending vibrant events, learning about what is going on in the Island, and taking part in the Channel Island's Lottery!

Feel free to make this site one of your 'favourites' - new information will be added on a regular basis, so keep checking back.

Government Business Plan

The Government Business Plan was debated by the States on 25th July 2007 (featured in Billet D’état XVIII), and featured 'Operational Plans' for all of the Departments within the States of Guernsey.

These Operational Plans are intended to inform the public about the objectives and aims of each of the Departments, how they spend public money, and how many staff are employed etc.

The Culture and Leisure Department's Operational Plan is attached in the downloads column on the right of this page - please feel free to view or download, and let us know what you think!

Cultural Strategy

The link in the right hand column of this page allows you to view and download a copy of the Department's Cultural Strategy for Guernsey 2008 - 2012, which outlines how it wishes to progress in the next five years. The Cultural Strategy is linked in to the Government Business Plan, but offers more depth and detail than the Operational Plan.

There is also a link to the Department's Review of 2007, which is also available for downloading.
